Fantasy Football News: Wes Welker and Demaryius Thomas

So the concern that Eric Decker would eat into Wes Welker’s fantasy production was not an issue in the Broncos first game. Testing out my draft strategy of having two wide receivers on the same team paid off big last night.

WR Demaryius Thomas, Den WR W 49-27 28
WR Wes Welker, Den WR  P W 49-27 16

My wide receivers netted me a total of 44 points between the both of them. The only other teams that could give you this type of production are the Falcons(Julio Jones and Roddy White), the Packers(Nelson, Jones) and to a lesser extent Dallas( Dez Bryant and Miles Austin when healthy). There are a few more you may be able to make a case for, but the Broncos, Falcons, and Packers are the only clear choices where this two wide receiver from the same team strategy would work. It is only week 1, but this is a very promising start. The Ravens defense did get me a negative six points, and even with this monster performance from my receivers I am still projected to loose 102-110.

This is my team

QB Russell Wilson, Sea QB
RB C.J. Spiller, Buf RB
RB Reggie Bush, Det RB
WR Demaryius Thomas, Den WR
WR Wes Welker, Den WR  P
TE Brandon Pettigrew, Det TE
FLEX Rashard Mendenhall, Ari RB  Q
D/ST Ravens D/ST D/ST
K Steven Hauschka, Sea K

and this is my opponents

QB Andrew Luck, Ind QB
RB Adrian Peterson, Min RB
RB Frank Gore, SF RB
WR Dez Bryant, Dal WR
WR Reggie Wayne, Ind WR
TE Vernon Davis, SF TE
FLEX Mike Wallace, Mia WR
D/ST Rams D/ST D/ST
K Phil Dawson, SF K

Other than Adrian Peterson, I think my team matches up pretty well and I should be able to win this game. I will post the results Sunday night.
