At this point, you shouldn’t really have too many decision on who to sit and start. The theme of the fantasy football playoffs should be “Don’t Be Cute”. Leave the the dance with the person who took you there. If you need to find a quarterback for Week 15 you can check out this quarterback waiver wire article https://captainjackfantasyfootball.wordpress.com/2013/12/13/fantasy-football-week-15-waiver-wire-quarterbacks/ or if you need to find a tight end to replace Gronk you can read this https://captainjackfantasyfootball.wordpress.com/2013/12/11/fantasy-football-focus-replacing-gronkowski/. For this post, I will mainly focus on people I think will have a better game than others.
Like
QB- Nick Foles vs Minnesota
Despite his 20 touchdowns and 1 interception, I still hear people say they are not buying into Foles. As Lil Jon once said several hundred times, What!?!? It is true that he hasn’t necessarily faced the most talented defenses, but against the 12th ranked pass defense of the Cardinals Foles threw for 3 touchdowns and 237 yards. Foles also lit up Tampa’s 17th ranked pass defense with another three touchdowns and 296 yards. I guess people are waiting to see what Foles could do against a Seahawk type of defense, but I love that Foles is not only consistent, but that since Week 9, Foles has 19 fantasy points or more. Facing the 30th pass defense of the Vikings should mean a nice pay day for Mr.Foles.
RB- Alfred Morris vs Atlanta
It honestly will be hard what to predict in today’s game, but a healthy usage of Alfred Morris should be involved. While facing a Cleveland defense in 2012 that was very similar to the Falcon one that the Redskins will see today, Alfred Morris had 27 carries in Kirk Cousins first full start. He also had two touchdowns. Even with the rushing attempts, Cousins was still had 37 throwing attempts for 329 yards and two touchdowns. If the Redskins are featuring Cousins for a trade like most people are speculating, the production of Morris should not be affected. Morris should be in line for a huge game against the a Falcon defense giving up an average of 133 rushing yards a game.
WR- This is one of the instances where you just start who has been performing for you. I like someone like Ace Sanders this week, but I’m not going to get cute and sit a Vincent Jackson for him. There are not really many injuries at WR, so just go with your performers.
TE- Dennis Pitta vs Lions
You can check out my article on why you should start him https://captainjackfantasyfootball.wordpress.com/2013/12/14/fantasy-football-focus-dennis-pitta/ , but I think the Ravens haters are trying to drown the noise on Pitta having a productive return to football. 11 targets in Week 14, a touchdown, and he is facing the 25th pass defense of the Lions? What is not to like?
Def- Jaguars vs Bills
If you are in some type of pinch on defense or down huge in your playoff game, the Jags could be a defense that puts up a ton of points this weekend… Or they could get rocked. I like that they have slowly been improving the past few weeks, and that Buffalo is ranked 28th in their passing offense. Again, this is only a pick I would loose if you need a lot of upside. Otherwise, play your normal defense.
Dislike
QB- Kirk Cousins vs Falcons
Unless you have quarterback issues this week, and even if you do, Cousins can’t be started just because of his limited body of work. There is no way to predict how he will do even against a poor Falcon’s pass defense, and I wouldn’t risk my playoff game on him.
RB- Bobby Rainey vs 49’ers
I fully expect Jim Harbaugh and the 9th ranked San Fran defense to contain Rainey.
WR- T.Y. Hilton vs Houston
He may have given you a nice push in Weeks 9 and 10, but the production has not been there since. It seemed like Andrew Luck wanted to get the ball to everyone but Hilton in Week 14. Houston suprsingly has the 2nd best pass defense in the NFL, so this is no cakewalk. You probably haven’t been relying on him too heavily, so he is someone you can feel comfortable not playing.
TE- There isn’t much advice to give on this aspect. Did you make it to the fantasy playoffs somehow and are still playing Jared Cook? Don’t play Jared Cook.
Def- Ravens vs Detroit
I can see Calvin Johnson going for 300 yards and 7 touchdowns because of Matt Elam calling Johnson old. If Reggie Bush is also able to play, the Ravens will have their hands full.
Good luck to everyone in the playoffs and make sure to check out The Fantasy Football Toolkit Sit Start column as well http://fantasyfootballtoolkit.com/2013/12/captain-jacks-fantasy-football-sit-start-challenge-week-15/
