Week 2 Daily Fantasy Football Advice: Wide Receivers

You pretty much can pick your poison when it comes to selecting wide receivers for your Week 2 daily fantasy lineup. Will you base your squad around an expensive stud and surround him with guys that are capable of big plays at anytime? Or will you go with players with a modest price tag who may not have big play potential, but will see a ton of targets and have a chance at getting in the end zone? Let’s look at my picks for Week 2 wide receivers. As always, all player dollar amounts are courtesy of FanDuel (if you aren’t signed up to play on FanDuel, click here to get started!)

Demaryius Thomas ($8,700), WR Denver Broncos vs. Kansas City

Don’t expect Thomas to drop three passes and squander the 11 targets that Peyton Manning threw his way again this week. A lot of people will be loading their squads up with Julius Thomas after his terrific performance last week, so take advantage of picking up Demaryius on your H2H and 50/50 league squads. Kansas City’s defense isn’t what it was last season, and I expect Manning to supply Thomas with a healthy dose of targets again this week. With Manning’s $10,200 price tag, it will be difficult to get the two of them on the same squad, but if you can do it, you will be handsomely rewarded.

Andre Johnson ($7,100) WR Houston Texans at Oakland

I’m a huge fan of Johnson this week. As usual, he led the Texans in targets (nine), receptions (six), and yards (93) in Week 1, but his teammate DeAndre Hopkins got into the end zone on a long touchdown pass. While the Texans will still maintain their ground and pound style offense, I still think Johnson gets at least 10 balls thrown his way, and has a great chance to get in the end zone this week against an Oakland secondary that was less than average last week against the Jets. Look for Johnson to be a sneaky play in GPP tournaments.

Michael Floyd ($6,600) WR Arizona Cardinals at New York Giants

Earlier this week, I told you that I loved the idea of pairing Carson Palmer with Floyd this week against the Giants. I still love that idea. With all of the uncertainty in the backfield due to Andre Ellington’s mysterious foot, I think that the Cardinals will air it out again this week against that atrocious Giants’ defense. Floyd was a huge deep threat last week against San Diego, grabbing five passes on a team-high seven targets for 119 yards. Look for similar results and a touchdown for Floyd this week, who is a great bargain play in GPPs, H2H, and 50/50 leagues.

Reggie Wayne ($6,200) WR Indianapolis Colts vs. Philadelphia

Wayne had a nice welcome back performance against a great Broncos’ defense in Week 1, seeing a team high 13 targets and turning that into nine receptions for 98 yards. Granted, the Colts were down the entire game and Andrew Luck threw 53 times, but Wayne showed that he is back and healthy. While the competition for targets is going to be tough week-to-week, a nice matchup with Philadelphia and a bargain price tag make Wayne a great play for GPP tournaments this week. I like the idea of pairing him with Luck in H2H and 50/50 leagues as well. Philadelphia allowed 32 fantasy points to Jaguars’ wide receivers in Week 1.

Keep an eye out for Devin Hester ($4,600 at Cincinnati) to be a potential surprise performer this week. Atlanta ran a lot of four wide receiver sets with Hester on the field, and he always adds value as a returner. Who are you looking to lead your team at wide receiver this week?
