Charles Sims Could Play in Week 14

After Doug Martin missed the final drives at the end of Week 13 because of some kind of tweak, Fantasy players are speculating whether or not Charles Sims will have a prominent role in Week 14.

Sims, who is eligible to return from I.R. this week, is a threat to Martin’s value. Out of college, Sims was compared to Matt Forte because of his pass-catching abilities. Martin hasn’t been that involved in the pass attack since his return in Week 10, but the catches he does record will start to disappear with Sims in the lineup.

However, the bigger worry is Sims will take carries away from Martin.

Martin was on the field for 69% of the offensive plays in Week 1, and Sims was on the field for 31% of the offensive snaps. Sims only had four carries, but those are still four opportunities taken away from Martin to score Fantasy points.

Sims also caught three passes in Week 1.

Right now, I still have Martin in my lineup until I hear anything to make me want to take him out. Since Week 11, he’s averaged 21.3 carries per game which is a solid workload. He’s also playing against the New Orleans Saints, a team allowing the sixth-most Fantasy points per game to running backs.

Sims could impact Martin’s production this week, but I’m also not expecting Sims to be a top-10 back after not playing since Week 4.
